Weeks 9 and 10 were based on the intensive development of our animation and affter effects sessions where we got help from Markos. It was challenging for me to use software because I have never came across it before, however, all of our group member were in the same position. We were meeting constantly and sharing our technical knowledge. It was, however, tricky to cope with the time management sometimes.

Scene and narrative analysis

1st scene

Our first scene served as introduction of where the story is taking place. It is also important, because it creates a first impression, who we wanted to ensure that our introduction was made in accordance of our overall style. We use zoom effect towards the door that leads the viewers inside the museum.

2nd scene

Our second scene shows the corridor of the museum. It also gives the viewers time to understand the museum space and overall concept.

3rd scene

Our third scene introduces two characters: arrogant and attention seeking Adele, who is part of the museum exhibition, and Edie: who is a visitor and behaves accordingly.

4th scene

Next scene introduces the next two characters: Rubby who is the strict museum guard, and Bob: the trouble maker.

5th scene

Fifth scene develops the narrative and shows the features of Bob. He pushes Adele from her pedestal and ruins the exhibition. We changed the perspective of this scene to give it more diversity. Our characters were re-drawn from top perspective.

6th scene

In the sixth scene, we show the reaction of the museum guard (rubby), who is displeased with the noise.

7th scene

Our next scene is unexpected to the viewers, it is based on Pacman game. It is a humorous element to the whole animation which puts smile on people's faces. Pacman was also enormously popular game, so there shouldn't be a problem of viewers not recognising the settings. However, if we did animation for specific culture audience we would have to consider the present of Pacman in this specific country.

I was animating this scene and I have experimented with variety of approaches, for example, I tried out to convert our characters to pixel art to make them more like Pacman game. (see below). We decided as a group that the pixels didn't work, so we kept the initial appearance.

8th scene

This is a short scene to add more details. It shows all characters coming out of Pacman settings. Bob is stopped by Rubby , who wants to return a discipline within the museum space.

9th scene

Ninth scene is a Pacman scene again, however, instead of Bob chasing everybody, he has now being chase by Rubby.

10th scene

This scene continues the chase between Rubby and Bob

11th scene

In this scene Bob decides to save himself from punishment and pretends he is a a sculpture by standing on pedestal. Rubby does not sees him.

12th scene

Eleventh scene shows the viewers that the day has passed. We added the sound of crushing to indicate that everything gets broke by Bob.

13 th scene

Is the final scene, where we show that the gallery space has been messed up and pictures have been destroyed.

Overall, all our scene have a purpose of adding element to complete the narrative. The story itself came out very light and humorous, although technically it was very hard. Our initiative was to keep it playful and be eye-pleasing which, in my opinion, we fulfilled successfully.
