"Coco" - Paper Cut Out Animation
Before starting the cut out, I have looked at the example of ''Coco'' paper animation. The importance of this example is that it shows clear and consistent movement of the dog, in my case, I need to think carefully of how I will allow that movement for Adele. Furthermore, at 0:07 dog it responds to the hand by closing his eyes, which I need to consider in our cut out. How Adele will respond to other characters? How will it be expressed? All of this needs to be addressed.

Creating a cut-out
At this point of production, we are preparing cut out of our characters, (our cut outs will be than transferred into mute animation) it is very important to create a cut out that allows rich movement. I took a picture of Adele, and traced it trying to keep details of her.

Movement
However, the plain cut-out didn't work because it allowed basic movement and lacked the details such as spoons on the body. (animation shows the rough, potential movement sketch of Adele's movements.)

I have changed the cut-out in breaking it in different parts to allow more movement. For example, spoons on her side can express excitement or fear.
However, even though i have I have improved the quality of movement, the head of Adele is still lacking it. Her head is too intricate to cut out all of the individual ''hair'', so I need to find out the way to eliminate this problem.
Experimenting with card cut-out has shown that it is not useful in terms of movement. By sticking just by card, it limited Adele being very basic. In my case, the ''hair'' of Adele is a complex composition that plays the core element in expressing her emotions and it is really important to ensure that those move freely. I have solved this problem by using different material (bin bag), it is lightweight which makes it easily adjustable. I have cut the bag into strips re-creating Adele's hair which allowed me plenty of movement.

Splitting in groups
We have now been put into groups to produce two films : one real life film (see week 4) to explore the characteristics and movements of characters better, and mute cut-out animation to use the features through secondary movements.
