Today is a big day!
Today at 10 am at the Liverpool street station me and Adele are going to meet other characters and humans to record a video. This is useful experimentation to:
explore their relationship to each other
find out our characters own features,
exercise in storyboard making
start developing ideas towards a final piece.
Furthermore, at 4 pm all of us meet at Forbidden planet shop look at existing characters, comic books, storyboards and many more.

Evalutation:
We based our narrative on expressing the main feautures of our characters (see week 3 for reference). Rubby: has been shown in the old newspaper because he is attracted to trash, Bob: plays role of a troublemaker by fooling around with human, Eddie: expresses his kindness by bringing flower to Adele, and Adele: shows her arrogance by rejecting his gift. Our narrative however was not strongly been though through and it felt unfinished, but it is important to remember that this was quite difficult experience, because we have only started to familiarise ourselves with the principles of good narrative and sequence.
Another important thing to consider for future was hands in the camera, they should not be visible at all or be part of the animation. As well as typography and credits should correspond to the mood and concept of the film.
In terms of the camera movement, we kept it consistent by filming it as one scene. Overall, it was valuable experience, by making mistakes we have learned important things which we will consider in our furher development. (see gallery below)
What went wrong?
Barclays stuff asked us to move away from our selected spot because our characters did not held a valid UK bank account. We reallocated a little bit further, and even thought new landscape was almost identical to previous one, we started filming from the start.
Cold weather made it tricky to move the characters
Our hands are sometimes visible in the shot.
what went right?
We transmitted characteristics of each characters
We used humour
We gained basic practise in narrative making

Forbidden Planet store visit

In order to gain inspiration and look at different structures of narratives we visited the Forbidden Planet store in London. It was useful experience, as there was thousands of sequences to learn from.
Examples fell in dozens of categories such as colour. Example of the left shows striking, vivid colour compositions, whereas right example is completely black&white, but yet still effective. Those two styles might speak to different types of audience.

Graphics. Again, example on the left is using thin strikes and great attention to detail, but right example is more dence and bold.

Composition. The comic shelves were so colourful that sometimes, the ones with simple white covers where the ones that stood out.

And characters. There were also hundreds of different characters with their own characteristics and aestetics.

Furthermore, there were interesting examples of book layouts such as "Eventually Everything Connects'' which is a folded book that expands the story when is folded out. The strong part about this publication is that it can be viewed both: as a single pages or all together, it depends on how quickly you want a narrative to build up.

Finally, example that I really liked as well was ''Lost Property'' which, attracted me by clean graphics, soft style, simplicity and a quality of print itself.

Summary
Looking at such a big variety, helped me to understand on how many different aesthetics are out there and how effective they can be in our final animation. Different styles speak to different audiences and might be used to carry different messages. Also, looking at the examples such as ''Lost Property'' I have outlined the importance of clean and simple backgrounds.
